Ford is recalling 2020-22 Escapes, Mavericks, and Corsairs due to a potential fire hazard

Some 2020-2022 Corsair, Escape, and Maverick vehicles with 2.5 HEV/PHEV engines are being recalled due to an under-hood fire hazard

In the event of engine failure, "significant quantities of engine oil and/or fuel vapour may be released into the under hood environment and may migrate to and/or accumulate near ignition sources resulting in potential under hood fire, localised melting of components, or smoke," Ford Media told UPI. Ford is issuing a safety recall for certain vehicles with 2.5-liter HEV/PHEV engines.

On Friday, dealerships were informed, and owners will be informed on August 8th, according to Ford.These vehicles' active grille shutters and under-engine shields will be modified by Ford-authorized mechanics to address the problem.

The emailed Ford statement stated that some 2.5L HEV/PHEV engines have suffered engine block or oil pan breaches due to manufacturing issues.A total of 100,689 automobiles in the United States are being recalled as a result of the problem.

According to Ford, the flaws that prompted the recall have not resulted in any injuries or accidents

An under-hood fire recall for some 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs was also announced by Ford on Friday.Owners of these vehicles are still urged to keep them outside and away from structures until they can be serviced by a dealer, according to the manufacturer.

Battery junction boxes and engine fan ground wires will be inspected and replaced if necessary by dealers on affected vehicles equipped with an 800-watt cooling fan system.

There will be an auxiliary box with a wire jumper installed for the other Navigators and Expeditions. Ford claims that the 2021 Expeditions and Navigators have been involved in 21 fires.
